This is the online version of our morning newsletter, The Morning Win. Subscribe to get irreverent and incisive sports stories, delivered to your mailbox every morning.

The first Sunday of the 2019 NFL season is in the books, and what a Sunday it was.

We saw a couple of overtime games, a Dallas Cowboys team that looks really dangerous, and a really pathetic performance by the Dolphins, who are reportedly even more of a mess after their 59-10 win over the Baltimore Ravens.

Oh, and then there was Tom Brady and the Patriots, who looked really darn good while blowing out Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday Night Football. They should only get better when they add a guy named Antonio Brown to the lineup, too.

Who is your top bet to be the last undefeated team during the 2019 NFL season? Patriots (+750) After analyzing the schedule, picking every team to win, the remaining teams to go undefeated after Week 4 are the Patriots, Colts, and Bears. If you're looking for the potential 'easy' win. Based on New England's schedule, five teams over the next six weeks have chances to spoil Patriots perfection. If they all fail, chances are Tom Brady, Bill Belichick and Co. Will go undefeated in.

  • Patriots are 2019's last remaining undefeated team. This might not sound like a bold prediction, but.
  • In the wake of New England's 43-0 mercy rule outing in Miami, @SuperBookUSA released Pats undefeated and Dolphins winless odds. Will Patriots go 16-0? Yes: +1000 No: -2000 Will Dolphins go.

There's a lot to talk about, so let's dive into some overreactions that might not be that crazy after Sunday's games.

Undefeated

1. The Dallas Cowboys look Super Bowl ready

Dak Prescott should be getting a big new paycheck any day now, which he deserves, especially after Sunday's dominant performance agains the New York Giants. Prescott threw for 405, 4 TDs and zero interceptions as the Cowboys rolled to a 35-17 win at home. Ezekiel Elliott ran for 51 yards and a touchdown in his first game back since spending the preseason in Cabo. The defense looked solid, even if the Giants don't have the best offense in the world. The NFC could very well go through Dallas this year.

2. The Patriots could go undefeated again

Did you see that performance against the Steelers on Sunday night? Forget about the offense, which is incredible and will only get better when AB gets in there. The Patriots' defense, ranked No. 1 by our Steven Ruiz, is going to be a problem for every team it faces. 16-0 is definitely in play, even with games against the Chiefs, Eagles, Cowboys, and Ravens on the schedule. They are just silly good.

3. The Browns are still the Browns

So yeah, all that offseason hype didn't pay off in Week 1 for the Browns as they were blown out by the Tennessee Titans at home, 41-13. It was an embarrassing loss in which Baker Mayfield and the Co. looked terrible throughout. Fans even booed them as they went to the locker room for halftime. The Browns are historically one of the worst franchises in all of sports and it will take a lot to shed the bad memories from years past. Can they turn things around? Absolutely. But they better hurry up.

4. Kyler Murray and the Cardinals are gonna be just fine

The No. 1 overall pick in last April's draft got off to a dreadful start in Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions. But then something clicked in the fourth quarter and he was able to rally the team back and force overtime with a late TD and two-point conversion. They then tied the Lions in what was a dreadful result for both teams and for everyone watching. But Murray made some incredible throws down the stretch and his ability to bounce back from a tough start should be a good sign of things to come in the desert.

5. Lamar Jackson is going to be scary good

Jackson put on an absolute show on Sunday, throwing for 324 yards and 5 TDs in Miami. Sure, it was against the hapless Dolphins but they still do have some good players on defense and Jackson made everything look so easy. The Ravens have a franchise quarterback on their hands and he could be one of the greats.

Sunday's biggest winner: Daniil Medvedev.

Odds Patriots Go Undefeated 2019 2020

Medvedev lost to Rafael Nadal in the US Open final in a five-set thriller on Sunday but his speech following the loss was a thing of absolute beauty. Go give it a watch, because it's what sports are all about.

After just two weeks into the 2019 NFL season, the New England Patriots have once again established themselves as the top team in the league. However, their dominance over the first two games of the season has sparked more than just talks of the Patriots being the league's best.

Instead, the talks have already turned into whether or not the Patriots can go undefeated during the regular season. It's a feat that they've accomplished one time before (2007) and certainly have the talent on both sides of the ball to make a run at again.

NFL betting sites have taken notice of what the Patriots are doing this season, and they've released an interesting futures bet that lists odds on whether or not New England can go undefeated.

NFL Betting Odds

The following NFL prop bet and odds are courtesy of Bovada:

Odds on the Patriots Going 16-0:

  • Yes (+800)
  • No (-2500)

On the surface, the ‘no' option is a heavy betting favorite. With that said, the ‘yes' option does offer a solid return. If you were to place a $100 wager on New England going undefeated this season, you would win $800.

Before I pick which option to wager on, let's examine the 'X's and O's' of the Patriots' chances of going undefeated this year.

First Two Games of 2019 Season

In Week 1, the Patriots destroyed what was a playoff team in the Pittsburgh Steelers. They won by a score of 33 to 3 and demolished the Steelers defense. New England tallied 465 total yards on offense and held the Steelers to just 308 total yards.

The Patriots also forced one turnover, won the Time of Possession battle and outclassed the Steelers in every aspect of the game.

In Week 2, New England went down to Miami and blew out the worst team in the league by a score of 43 to 0. The Patriots even scored two touchdowns on defense and dominated Miami in all aspects of the game. It was if New England was playing against a high school football team.

Undefeated

Jets at Patriots in Week 3

For Week 3, the Patriots will host the New York Jets who were just embarrassed on Monday Night Football by the Cleveland Browns and are starting their 3rd string quarterback Luke Falk on Sunday. Additionally, the Jets could be down a few key contributors on defense.

The Patriots have gone 9-1 against the Jets in their last 10 head to head meetings, are 17-0 in their last 17 home games, and have won eight straight against the Jets at Gillette Stadium. Currently, New England is a -22 point favorite over the Jets at most of the reputable NFL betting sites, and it's a good bet that they will remain undefeated after this weekend.

Remaining Games of the Season

Following the Jets game, New England will travel to Buffalo to take on the Bills who Tom Brady and the Pats have owned over the last 15 years. The following is a quick look at their remaining schedule heading into Week 3:

15Sun, Dec. 15at Cincinnati Bengals1:00pmCBS
16Sun, Dec. 22vs. Buffalo BillsTBDCBS
17Sun, Dec. 29vs. Miami Dolphins1:00pmCBS

Before the Patriots bye week, they could easily be 9-0. The assumed toughest games during the pre-bye schedule is at Buffalo and at Baltimore. However, when you look at their head to head records since 2003, it's not that close. In their last 32 games against the Bills, the Patriots are 28-4 and have won five straight meetings. In their last 19 trips to Buffalo, the Patriots have gone 17-2 and have won seven consecutive games.

The Patriots and the Ravens have played against each other 13 times with New England holding a 10-3 record. The Patriots have won three straight games overall in this head to head series and are 3-1 on the road at Baltimore.

Following the bye week, the Patriots play against the Eagles, Cowboys, Texans and Chiefs. Of those four teams, New England gets the toughest games at home when they host Dallas in late November and the Chiefs two weeks later.

Just like with the Bills and the Ravens, when you look at the Patriots' record against these teams you will see that it's not going to be as tough as some might think:

  • The Patriots are 3-0 against the Eagles in their last three trips to Philadelphia.
  • The Patriots have won five straight games against Dallas including three straight at home contests.
  • New England is 10-1 all-time against the Texans and are 3-1 at Houston with two straight road wins.
  • The Patriots are 6-1 against the Chiefs at home since 2000.

On paper, the Chiefs present the toughest test for New England this year, but the Patriots have proven that the Chiefs have been no match when playing at Gillette Stadium.

One team that has given the Patriots fits has been the Carolina Panthers who are 3-1 against New England in their last four head to head meetings. Fortunately for New England, they don't play Carolina or any other team that has given them problems in recent year.

A Wealth of Talent

Coming into the 2019 NFL season, the Patriots were loaded on both sides of the ball. However, the addition of wide receiver Antonio Brown and the return of wide receiver Josh Gordon has turned this offense into one of the best in the NFL. After two weeks, the Patriots' offense ranks as follows:

  • 5th with 422 total yards per game
  • 2nd in scoring at 38 points per game
  • 5th in passing at 310.5 yards per game

Defensively, the Patriots have been the best in the NFL after two weeks:

Odds Patriots Go Undefeated 2019 Draft

  • 1st in yards allowed at 246 ypg
  • 1st in scoring defense as they've only allowed 3 points in two games
  • 8th against the pass at 209 yards per game
  • 2nd against the rush at 37 yards per game
  • 1st in the league with five total interceptions

Not only does New England have a wealth of talent on offense, but their defense may also be the best we've seen under Bill Belichick.

Experience With Going Undefeated

The New England Patriots went 16-0 in 2007 and established themselves as the team of this century. They added both Wes Welker and Randy Moss to the offense and the team exploded up and down the field every week.

In fact, only two times did the Patriots score less than 27 points in a game. New England scored at least 31 points in 12 of 16 games that year. They also scored 48 or more points in four games as well.

This year, they've already scored 38 ppg over the first two weeks and should be able to put up 30+ points on the Jets in Week 3. Their current offense is eerily similar to the one they had in 2007. However, this year's defense appears to be more talented.

Odds Patriots Go Undefeated 2019 Draft Picks Nfl Week

Tom Brady and Bill Belichick know what it takes to go undefeated, and that experience will help this team as they coast through the first half of the year before playing some tougher opponents. With a loaded offense and more talent on defense than ever before, this team will push for a 16-0 record.

Will The Patriots Run The Table?

I believe New England has a great chance at going undefeated this year. The +800 line is only going to decrease with each win. I would jump on this line before New England crushes the Jets this weekend and eventually cruise to a 9-0 record heading into their bye week.

The schedule does get tougher after New England's bye week, but it's nothing they can't handle. Unless the Patriots take a surprise loss to someone like the Buffalo Bills, I don't see Brady and Belichick losing during the regular season.
